SEREMBAN: A RM900mil solar energy facility will be built in Negeri Sembilan as part of the state administration’s initiative to promote the use of renewable energy.

Revealing this, Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said his government was looking at two proposals and a decision would be made soon.

“The Negeri Sembilan Investment Centre is in talks with the potential investors and we want to do our bit to reduce carbon emissions and global warming.

“We need to do more to go green to be able to reduce the effects of climate change,” he said during high-tea with investors organised by the NSIC and Tenaga Nasional here on Tuesday (Dec 11).

He also expressed hope those who wished to invest in the state would consider using renewable energy in their operations.

“My administration welcomes investments that are balanced, meaning that they do not pose any risk to the environment and are sensitive to the local community.

“In our quest to progress, we should always safeguard the environment to ensure this planet remains a conducive place to love for humans as well as animals and plants,” he said.

Separately, he said the state received investments totalling RM1.6bil for the manufacturing sector alone in the first half of this year while the services sector got another RM400mil.

Aminuddin said his administration was also in talks with 12 other potential investors who wished to bring in some RM3.9bil to set up operations here.
